Western Cape AI Cluster
In March 2026 the South African AI Association (SAAIA) & the Western Cape Government (WCG) launched the Western Cape AI Cluster (WCAIC).
WCAIC is a 3-year collaborative, multi-stakeholder programme to place the Western Cape as a globally significant AI Tech Hub and gateway to AI Africa.
WCAIC will research, support and grow the artificial intelligence opportunity in the province by engaging relevant stakeholders on key themes such as AI Policy, Responsible AI, Governance, Infrastructure, AI Factories and Sovereign AI.
The WCAIC annual event, Activate SA, convenes every August in Cape Town to share progress within the WC AI Cluster through dialogue, panels, networking, workshops and AI startup / Investor showcase.
